{Making your own Chalkboard Labels}

These were actually very easy to make. I love the look of these labels and chalkboard in general. We have both the chalkboard paint in a can as well as the spray paint at our home, but for labeling things like our sugar and flour containers I didn’t want to paint something. The Martha Stewart labels are expensive for me to justify. The other thing I thought about doing was to cut out small wooden hang tags, drilling a hole with my Dremel, adding twine, and painting with chalkboard paint. That seemed labor intensive but I have the supplies to do it.

I was playing with Microsoft Publisher, but You could do this with any program that allows you to print labels. I chose a shipping label format that I already had on hand- Avery 5163. I then chose a shape to add, you can choose any that you want.

 I chose this one that I have seen around as a great shape for these labels.

Then if you get the outline to show up, right click til the paint can shows up, and chose the black color

And it looks like this now.

And really you are done at this point. That’s all there is to it. You can then go through printing. I suggest doing the print preview so you can see how it will look. It will take up a LOT of black ink, but It works and you can do it with supplies you already own.

This is what it looks like ready to print.

If you don’t have a program that can do this, or don’t want to bother, It is available for download for FREE here

You can adjust it a lot of different ways including adding the words and changing fonts……

{Friday beauty}

No plans to do a Freebie Friday today. I have a few projects to work on, but instead I figured I would share with you some new pictures of my sweet baby. These were taken at 2.5 months and I just got them edited. She is quite a smiley little thing. She lights up my world. Having 3 Blessings is wonderful and I love seeing their different personalities.

Big blue eyes

I Love this grin!

She is quite nosey, but her siblings are always up to something.

A full-length shot. Such a little sweetie! Thank you for letting me indulge.

{Laundry Room Lighting Update}

We had a boring, builder grade tiny light in the laundry room. I have been working on updating this room to be more functional for us as our main home entry. Everyone enters our home through this door most of the time and we need a spot to lay things down and find them again easily.

I meant to get a picture of the light by itself but hubby jumped on it quickly so I had to make-do with what I had- we don't stop the man when he decides to finish up or start on a project I want lol.
See just boring white small light fixture.

This is the light fixture we bought at Lowes for just under $100. This came with the Edison light bulb which I LOVE the look of right now.

This is the actual way the room looks when lit up. It has a different glow due to the Edison bulb. I like the way the fixture looks in the room. It just completes it more. Ignore the top of the cabinets- working on a plan for that- baskets maybe....
This is what the bulb looks like in the dark (aka without my flash) - a soft glow. Honestly it probably gives off less light than I would like for this dark room. We will change to another bulb soon though.

A closer shot of the fixture- I like the rustic, antique look of it.

And just for fun- a close-up of the Edison bulb. These things are expensive- not as much so as the LED bulbs, but I would not buy them regularly. It is fun for the time being, but we will switch to a regular CFL or other bulb soon.

{Mom prom}

I had an amazing time at the Charlotte Mom Prom 2012. A couple friends and I decided we needed to get all dressed up and have a fancy girls night out together after we saw the information for this event.

If you have never heard of this National event- there are some in many cities that benefit Cookies for Kids Cancer- A fundraiser for childhood cancer research. This was a Mom/women only event that had amazing food, decor, door prize/raffles, dancing, and swagbags. Here are a few pictures I wanted to share with you.

Some of the raffle items:

Mixers
Major Tool Kit
Poppies monogrammed items and a Cabot gift set

Melissa Gibbs introduced our Prom Queens- Moms who have or are dealing with a child that has cancer. Some of these were uplifting and some were heartwrenching stories~ Like the mom who just lost her daughter in March.

They had such fun pops of colors and held the event in an old movie theater.

We had fun dressing up and taking pictures in the photobooth

This is an event I will be participating in again. If you get a chance to attend one in your town- please do, you will not regret it.

{Bear with me....on Vacation}

AHHHH, some family time!

Please enjoy a few pictures of our families vacation and I will return next week with lots of new project posts. We are enjoying an annual trip to Florida and so far have visited Kennedy Space Center and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

My hubby had never been to Kennedy Space Center before, and while we enjoyed it, it would have been better for older kids- more tour and museum type exhibits and info although even my one year old enjoyed the videos they had and a few other items but for the price they would have enjoyed it more were they older.

My daughters favorite ride at Hollywood Studios is the Backlot tour. She loves this scene with the fire and water!

Having fun on the Streets of America set-up. Don't worry no one was hurt during the filming of this event. lol

Lil Boy's first Disney firework event - Fantasmic- This was my  and my daughters first time seeing Fantasmic and his first any night show lol, they both loved it but my favorite is the regular Magic Kingdom display or Epcot even. This was more of a whole show than just fireworks. It was awfully humid today and baby boy was already tired long before the 9am display so he is already in his jammies ready to tucker out..

We are so lucky some of our friends were here at the same time we are. Our girls love playing together and it works out well with the young ages to have another set of adults to trade off the the littler kids and riding rides together. Some rides and shows the little ones didn't do as well in like Baby girl in this picture did not like the Muppet 3D  show, but my lil Boy loved it. The 3 older girls rode Tower of Terror. 2 out of 3 of them loved it and wanted to ride again. The 3rd didn't want to admit it scared her more.

I may touch base again later this week. I will say Mousesavers newsletter has been a great site for planning info for us and you really cannot beat buying the tickets from Undercover Tourist unless you get a great full vacation package from Disney!!

Have a great week!
